2021 is almost to a close. It’s normal to feel overwhelmed and out of control right now. But the easiest way to get stuck is wasting time attempting to control what you can’t.

Which is why I've provided you this short guide: 4 Ways to be More Productive.

Productivity hack #1: Stop worrying about the things you can't control.

My favorite quote on this is from Jesus (Matthew 6:26):

“Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?”

Today, a brand-new season awaits you. YOU have the power to decide what you will focus on this quarter.

What can you control? And how do you want to improve it?

Don’t waste any more time worrying about what you can’t control.

Hack #2: Fix your to-do list

Before you tackle your to-do list this morning, take a moment to count how many items are on it.

5? 10? 20?

If it’s more than 3, it’s too long.

Our #1 tip for fixing your to-do list is focusing on just 3 items each day.

We WAY overestimate how much we can get done in a day. And when we barely scratch the surface of our to-do list, we end the day stressed, discouraged, and feeling behind.

Instead, if you can cross off your top 3 priorities each day, you’ll feel focused, accomplished, and ready to tackle new tasks tomorrow.

Better yet, if you know your CliftonStrengths, you can assign one or two of your strengths to your top three action items to help power you to complete.

Try focusing on just 3 main tasks each day this week, and let me know how it goes!

Hack #3: The 20/20 rule.

Do you ever stare at your computer screen, feeling totally unmotivated and stuck?

We’ve all been there.

And it can feel impossible to get moving again.

So, instead of trudging the marathon to the end of the day, try 20-minute sprint intervals.

Set the timer on your phone for 20 minutes, and commit to being productive until you hear the alarm.

This could look like working on a big project, but it could also mean starting the dishwasher or replying to a few emails.

After 20 minutes are up, give yourself the option to take a 20-minute break. Or, if you’re back in the mojo, keep on keepin’ on.

You’ll be amazed at how much you can accomplish in 20-minute sprint intervals.

Hack #4: How to identify YES opportunities

If you want to live a purposeful life, you need to say NO a whole lot more than YES.

Why? Because saying YES to the wrong opportunities distracts you from what you really want in life.

Being a YES (wo)man will put you on the fast track to stress & stagnation.

But here’s the good news: Knowing when to say YES doesn’t have to be hard.

You know it’s a “YES!” opportunity when it promotes your priorities and passions.

The easiest way to boost your productivity is to only say YES to the right opportunities.

What do you need to say NO to today, so you can say YES to something better tomorrow?

Cheering you on,
Dana Williams
