Listen on:
In this episode of Dominate Your Day, I had the opportunity to speak with Dr. Olga Romero, a dynamic leader whose career path took her from corporate communications at Southwest Airlines to the front lines of educational transformation in Texas.
A pivotal moment during a high-profile media event caused Olga to reflect on her purpose—realizing she was telling someone else’s story rather than her own. That insight led her to pursue a lifelong goal: entering the field of education. Beginning as a fifth-grade teacher in a high-needs Dallas school, Romero quickly rose through the ranks, driven by a deep belief in the power of education to create lasting change.
Olga’s impact has been far-reaching. She led the turnaround of a failing campus into an A-rated personalized learning academy and helped launch Texas' first hybrid public school, blending in-person and remote learning. Now serving as an executive director in Fort Worth ISD and teaching education leadership at TCU, she brings a strategic mindset shaped by her corporate background and strengthened by her experience in the classroom.
As fellow leaders, we can learn from Olga's leadership style: grounded in listening, building trust, and understanding the unique needs of each community.
