Do you struggle to maintain work-life balance and consistently engage in personal brand building as a busy leader? It’s all too easy to put self-care, relationship-building, and skill development on the back burner when meetings and deadlines pile up.

This month we are focused on sharing  research-backed tips across 5 key focus areas to help you elevate your personal brand and leadership impact in the midst of the daily grind. Whether you need inspiration for sharpening your strengths, crafting your purpose, or adopting a growth mindset, I’ve got you covered.

We all want to leave a positive impression on others, and here are five actionable ways to do just that:

1. Be Authentic and Consistent: Embrace your unique strengths and qualities to build an authentic personal brand. Consistently align your actions and values to reinforce your brand identity. .  Many individuals often express that they don't feel as competent as their peers at work and struggle to grasp their unique and authentic selves. I completely empathize with this sentiment because I've experienced it myself. I, too, went through a journey of self-discovery, learning the value of not comparing myself to others and, instead, delving into the profound process of uncovering my own distinct talents. I have found that CliftonStrengths® (Strengthsfinder) is the best tool for unlocking your talents and recommend that as a first step to embracing your unique strengths.
2. Master the Power of Storytelling: Craft compelling stories that showcase your journey, struggles, and triumphs. Storytelling creates emotional connections and helps others relate to your personal brand. I love simple frameworks as I am developing content and feel like storytelling always grabs an audience.  A good construct for story telling is Joseph Campbell’s

3. Share Your Knowledge Freely: Be generous with your expertise and share valuable insights through blogs, podcasts, or speaking engagements. This positions you as an authority and builds trust with your audience. A good mantra I like to say to myself is how can I bring value to each conversation I am having today?
4. Elevate Others: Support and promote the success of your team members, colleagues, or clients. Celebrate their achievements, and in turn, your personal brand will be associated with positivity and support.  Who can you write a note to or share a bit of encouragement with each day?  I used to have a leader who did not finish the day without writing a few simple thank you notes or notes of recognition to people he wanted to recognize each day for great work.
5. Embrace Feedback and Growth: Be open to constructive feedback and continuously seek opportunities for personal and professional development. Demonstrating a commitment to growth enhances your influence and impact. A good opportunity to create this space for yourself and others is to ask, “Is there anything I can do better to serve you or the team?”
